Joelle Schulze, J.D., Founder & Principal

Joelle has over 20 years of legal recruiting experience, following six years as a corporate, securities, and M&A attorney at Winstead, an AmLaw 200 firm. She holds a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law and a B.A. in English from Yale University.

Raised in Austin — with family roots in France and the Texas Hill Country — Joelle grew up as a faculty kid on the University of Texas campus before heading to Yale, where she also worked for years in Yale Law’s pro bono legal clinics. She began her legal career as a paralegal, first at the Chambers-ranked white-collar firm Lankler Siffert & Wohl in New York, then at Austin litigation boutique Scott Douglass & McConnico, before earning her J.D. and joining Winstead in 1999. There, she practiced corporate and M&A law for six years while serving on the firm’s diversity and leadership transition committees. She moved into full-time recruiting in 2006 and launched Prospect Point Recruiting in 2021.

Practice Focus

Joelle’s recruiting practice centers on:

  • Lateral partner placements
  • Associate and in-house searches
  • Consulting on best practices in recruiting

She works with attorneys, law firms, and corporate clients, often on an exclusive basis, which allows for the collaboration and candor her placements thrive on. Under her leadership, her recruiting teams were named Texas’ Best by Texas Lawyer for a decade running. She attributes her successful track record across two decades of recruiting to genuine relationship-building and, as she puts it, “the heart of a matchmaker.”

Beyond placements, Joelle is a frequent speaker and consultant on career management, compensation negotiation, board service, and business development, and mentors attorneys both formally and informally throughout her career.
